Hope - 2018 Choir Christmas Music Presentation Rehearsals Begin

Hope! "A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen - the notion that what is wanted can be had, and that events will turn out for the best. Hope has always lifted the human heart. In Old Testament times, the beleaguered hoped for deliverance, the sick hoped for healing, and the Israelites hoped for freedom in a new and peaceful world. But during one moment in time, Hope took on a new meaning and we celebrate that moment each season of Christmas when Hope came as a gift from God.”

May 7, 2018 - not sure why I remember that date. Maybe because it seemed late this year; but on that day, my first batch of Christmas Music samples arrived! Then, in quick succession, I received many others from a variety of music publishing companies. Thus began my process of not only considering WHAT to sing for the 2018 Choir Christmas Music presentation, but also HOW to get all of you to join me to tell the story of Hope that Christmas brings to us each year!
Rehearsals for Christmas will begin this Sunday, September 9th at 5:30 pm in the Choir room. (2nd floor of the Education Building.) Come have a “taste” of the Adult Choir as a new small group to become involved with for a season - no need to commit past Christmas. I know you will enjoy preparing to share the Christmas story through the ministry of music, and we would love to add your voice to our celebration. All are welcome! - Philip

Promotion Sunday

As well as being Promotion Sunday, this will be a time to learn about our small groups and find your place if you have not connected with a group yet. Take this Sunday to visit one of our Sunday morning small groups, or just come and learn about other opportunities (some weekly, some monthly, some seasonal, some brand new!) to grow and connect with a small group. And finally, we will celebrate and pray for our teachers and students as a new year begins.

Church-wide Shrimp Boil

Please plan to celebrate with us on Wednesday, July 18th at 6:00 pm. Louise Johnson is planning a shrimp, corn-on-the-cob and potato extravaganza for us.

If you can, bring a dessert: cookies, brownies and homemade ice cream are always crowd-pleasers.And, DEFINITELY BRING a spirit of FUN!
Want in on some water-balloon action? Pick up a package of self-sealing water balloons, (the kind you can fill 100 in 60 seconds)we will have a filling station. Bring a blanket or chair if you'd like, dress for comfort, and let's continue to have summer fun together as a church family!

East Flora Teacher Appreciation

Everyone has had that special teacher who made a difference in their lives. Did you miss the chance to say thank you? Or maybe you did not realize the impact they had until much later? We've created an opportunity for you to show appreciation to a teacher who is playing a significant role in the lives of the children at East Flora Elementary School. On Friday, May 18th we will be delivering a homemade, (or store bought!), dessert for each faculty and staff member at East Flora to take home and share with their families as they celebrate the end of another successful year. For details on how to participate in this "tasteful" act of appreciation, CLICK HERE. Contact Allison Jordan at 601-259-0812 if you have any questions, or let her know you would like to help deliver the desserts to East Flora Elementary on Friday, May 18th.
