Children & Youth
From weekly Bible stories in the Nursery to the Baccalaureate service for our seniors, Parkway Hills UMC is focused on developing our youngest members as they grow and mature.
Newborn to 4 - Our Nursery and Preschool rooms are on the second floor of the Worship Center. Nursery workers give love and attention to each little one, and our Preschool Sunday School class is led by volunteers who work our children as they enjoy their time together through play, Bible stories, and activities.
Ages 5 through 11 - These Sunday School classes meet in The Garden, which is in the Education Building. Grades K-3 use the lectionary based Whirl curriculum, which includes a video and engaging activities to help them seek faith and understanding through the Bible’s message. Grades 4 and 5 classes use the Colaborate: Methodist curriculum, which takes them through Old and New Testament lessons and leads them right into the Confirmation class (grade 6).
Wednesday Night Activities
After gathering together with the church family for dinner and fellowship at 5:30 PM in the Worship Center, our children come together at 6:15 PM in The Garden for fun activities and games in their age group.

Youth - Middle school (grades 6-8) and senior high (grades 9-12) students meet each Sunday in the Youth Suite on the second floor of the Education Building. Both classes use SpiceRack, a downloadable curriculum offered by Ministry Architects through Abingdon Press and Youth Ministry Partners. Each lesson contains very little material for lecturing, but instead creates a fast-paced, interactive, faith- sharing experience. Every lesson offers these components:
- Engaging the Brain: At least three options for opening the lesson
- Igniting the Heart: Three options for digging into the meat of the lesson
- Taking it Home: One or two options for closing the lesson
Sunday Nights at PHUMC
Grades 6 through 12 meet in the Youth Room from 5 PM – 7 PM. Come join us as we share a light supper then tackle pertinent issues, play games, serve others, and grow in our faith.
Our mid-week small groups meet throughout the fall and spring semesters of the school year. Join the whole church family for dinner at 5:30 PM. Then, at 6:15, we split into our small groups. High school girls meet for their own small group in the Parlor led by Lindsey Norris while the rest of the youth meet in the Youth Room.
Meeting times and locations are subject to change. Call the church to check with us if you are
uncertain about where to go.
