Philip and Ann Messner are charter members of PHUMC attending since the first service in January of 1995. Beginning as a volunteer, to help form the music department, Philip has served as Choir Director since its debut on April 9, 1995. 

Philip received a Bachelor and Master of Music from Kent State University.  He has worked in Symphony management in Baton Rouge, Memphis, Asheville and Jackson.  Prior to coming to PHUMC as the full time Minister of Music, he worked with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as Division Manager in Mississippi.  Philip recently completed the studies required by the United Methodist Church at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary and is commissioned Deacon working toward ordination  Philip lives in Madison with his wife Ann, who is employed with St. Joseph Catholic High School and a volunteer for the Youth program, and their dog Jake.
